Installation Notes: Valleys are an inherently difficult place to utilize any sort of clip due to the fact that shingles have sealant on them meant to keep them from lifting along the valley seam. Along most of the seam, if the sealant is doing its job, it may be difficult to slide the clips under them. Often you must place them where there is a small step in a course of shingles as it’s easier to lift up the shingle in order to insert the clip. For this reason the valley clips are made very thin, but this also makes them more fragile. You may need to utilize a flat screwdriver, putty knife or something similar as a wedge to help lift the edge of the shingle in order to slide in the clips. If you try and force the clip into place it’s possible to damage the shingle and or break the clip. Be sure and take your time and work slowly when installing valley clips and always have a number of spares on hand in case any clips break.
