Vinyl Siding Mounting System
The Vinyl Siding Mounting System was developed in 2019 as a way to attach props, including high density props, to vinyl siding without drilling any holes into the siding. The design utilizes off the shelf vinyl siding hooks and is then custom fitted to match your siding. Each mount incorporates two mounting hooks (typically rated for 12 lbs each) for increased holding power and in most installations 4 mounts are used per prop. The mounts are sized to fit 1/2″ EMT conduit and are designed to work in combination with our EMT prop mounts. While the EMT conduit snaps in place and does hold securely on its own, the EMT should be physically secured to the mount. There is a spot to embed a 1/4″ nut behind the conduit receptacle which allows for bolting of the EMT directly to the mount. Alternatively there is a slot in which a zip tie can be inserted and tightened around the EMT conduit. A standard set of mounts contains 2 vertical and 2 horizontal mounts and is designed to hold one large prop such as a Rosa Wreath or SpinReel. However we can customize the number and style of mounts to fit your specific needs. Some hardware is required and you can choose to receive just the printed parts or have the required hardware included. Each mount is printed in two pieces and does require some minor assembly. *** As HD props have evolved from the 500-700 pixel range to nearly 1500 pixels in the case of the Rosa Grande, so to has the weight of the props. For example the new Reel Deal prop weights about 25 pounds and the Rosa Grande weighs about 30 pounds with all the pixels and mounting parts. This has the potential of overloading the staples that hold the vinyl siding to the house. The use of additional mounts on any prop that weighs more than 15 pounds is recommended to increase the contact footprint with the vinyl siding to minimize the risk of failure of both the mounts and the siding itself. ***
How the ordering process works:
To get started you will first want to contact us and we can answer any questions you may have or provide more information on the mounting system. We will ask that you provide pictures and some basic measurements of your siding. This will help determine how similar or not your siding is compared to the siding used in the base design. Over the last few years designing custom mounts for numerous houses, we have improved this base design so that the fit is more universal and works on some 65-75% of houses without the need for modifications. As a result our new preferred method in the design process is to send a test plate after looking at your siding pictures and confirming that your house is a good candidate for trying the base design. You will then confirm the fit and if the mounting plate fits as expected, then you go straight to the ordering process. In the event the the fit of the test plate needs to be improved, then we will assess what changes need to be made and utilize one of the custom design path options.
For custom fitted siding mounts the ideal situation is to have an actual sample of your siding in hand. It doesn’t have to be big, only about 10-12″ wide, but the full height of the panel. This ensures the best fit and the fastest turn around time as we can measure and fit prototypes on the spot. However if your siding appears to be very similar to the base design siding or the fit of the test plate was just slightly off, then having a sample may not be necessary. In that case or for those who do not have a spare sample of siding, the design process will have to be done via photos, measurements and the mail. This is something we are beta testing and clearly is a slower process as we’re not able to directly measure and test the fit of prototypes which can affect the fit. Additionally it incurs the added time and cost of shipping the prototypes to be test fitted.
Below you will find a general overview of the steps involved for the three design methods.
Test plate overview:
- First contact us and we will go over the mounting system in more detail and answer any questions you may have.
- Provide pictures and some basic measurements of your siding.
- If your siding is a good candidate, the cost is $10 and we will send you a test plate for fitting.
- You will confirm the fit and if the mounting plate fits as expected, then you go straight to the ordering process and we will send an invoice for the vinyl siding mounts.
- In the event the fit needs to be improved, we will assess and utilize one of the two custom design options below.
Send us a sample overview:
- First contact us and we will go over the mounting system in more detail and answer any questions you may have.
- Provide pictures and some basic measurements of your siding.
- Pay a $30 custom design fee and mail us your siding sample. If for some reason we are unable to design a mount that works with your siding, then the custom design fee will be refunded.
- Once we complete the custom design process, we will send an invoice for the production of your custom vinyl siding mounts.
- Production of your custom vinyl siding mounts begins when your order is received.
Custom design by mail overview:
- First contact us and we will go over the mounting system in more detail and answer any questions you may have. Please note that trying to customize a mount that fits without physically having a sample is a difficult process and will likely take multiple attempts.
- Provide pictures and some basic measurements of your siding. While siding has spacing that is measured in inches, we will also need measurements in millimetres that can be clearly seen in pictures. So make sure you have a good measuring tool, see video below.
- Pay $30 for the custom initial prototype. This includes initial customization, printing and shipping of the prototype.
- If further customization is required there will be a custom design fee of $30 which includes revisions 1-3. For each of these prototypes you will be charged at cost for the printing and shipping. This cost will not exceed $8 per revision. In the event that after the initial prototype and three revisions more customization is still required there will be an additional $15 custom design fee which will cover revisions 4 and up. You will still be charged at cost for the printing and shipping of each prototype, not to exceed $8 per revision. If for some reason we are unable to design a mount that works with your siding, then the custom design fees will be refunded. However the $30 charge for the custom initial prototype and the printing and shipping costs for each revision are non-refundable.
- Once we complete the custom design process, we will send an invoice for the production of your custom vinyl siding mounts.
- Production of your custom vinyl siding mounts begins when your order is received.
How much do the Vinyl Siding Mounts cost?
The Vinyl Siding Mounts are typically sold as a set of 4, but can be purchased individually as well. The pricing of the mounts is determined by the width of your siding and reflects the cost for the printed parts only. Adding the required hardware costs an additional $10 per set or $3.50 individually.
3 – 4.5 Inch Siding: $35 per set, $10 individually
5 – 5.5 Inch Siding: $40 per set, $12 individually
6 – 6.5 Inch Siding: $45 per set, $14 individually
7 – 7.5 Inch Siding: $50 per set, $16 individually
What else is required?
A set of 4 mounts requires the following hardware. Click on each item for a purchase link. You can view the instructions for the Vinyl Siding Mounts by clicking the following link. There is also a video below that provides additional information. Vinyl Siding Mounting System Instructions

IMPORTANT NOTE: HOLDING POWER OF MOUNTS VARIES FROM HOUSE TO HOUSE. WHILE THE MOUNTS HAVE HELD UP WELL TO STRONG AND GUSTY WINDS, NO MOUNT CAN BE GUARANTEED TO WITHSTAND NATURE AS WEATHER CONDITIONS AND SEVERITY ARE UNPREDICTABLE. MANY FACTORS EXIST SUCH AS TYPE AND WEIGHT OF PROPS, ANGLE TO THE WIND, STRENGTH AND GUST FACTOR OF THE WIND AND CONDITION OF THE SIDING CAN IMPACT THE PERFORMANCE AND HOLDING POWER OF THE MOUNTS. ADDITIONALLY SINCE VINYL SIDING WAS NEVER DESIGNED FOR THIS PURPOSE, YOU ASSUME ALL RISK AND LIABILITY FOR USING THIS MOUNTING SYSTEM WHICH COULD INCLUDE DAMAGE TO THE SIDING AND PROPERTY OR INJURY TO PERSONS.
